International Childfree Day is celebrated on August 1 every year. And here’s how you can celebrate it with the childfree people in your life.
Yes, we have a special day to celebrate being childfree in case you missed it.
International Childfree Day was created in 1973 by the National Alliance for Optional Parenthood in the US.
At the time, it was known as Non-Parents’ Day and the organization was known as National Organisation for Non-Parents (N.O.N.).
The day was created to acknowledge and celebrate voluntarily childfree people and foster acceptance of childfree people.
Even though this day was created in 1973 and the childfree have come a long way since then, we still have a long way to go in people understanding a simple fact – childfree women are free to be childfree and they don’t owe anyone an explanation.

How To Celebrate International Childfree Day?
As a childfree person, I buy myself something nice, hang with my squad or just curl up at home and read a book.
In recent years, I’ve also taken to combining the day with a vacation to a nice island with lots of sun and beach.
Many other childfree people celebrate in different ways. Or not at all.
And if you have a childfree person in your life and you’re wondering how to celebrate the day with them, here are a few great ideas:-
Send a Card
Send a digital greeting card letting them know you support their choice. Or you could send a supportive note on this cute stationery.
It might sound like a small thing but it would really mean a lot to a childfree person, or most people to be honest.
Gift Basket
Send them a nice gift basket with some of their favorite things. Some great places to find gift baskets for childfree people include:-
