She has expressed her childfree status in previous interviews, but in the latest article from The Independent, she was pretty vocal about it.
In the article, the 39-year-old star said, “…someone should really make a robot cat that does all the purring and the kneading.’ And then I was like: wait, I’m not even up to the ‘cat lady’ part! Why would anyone trust me with a kid?”
In her memoir Scrappy Little Nobody, she stated that having a child is not for her, and in an interview with E!News, she hilariously noted, “Well, if I have kids, it’s just another kid that your kid is going to have to fight when the water wars come.”
In a world where many people still insist the ultimate purpose of a woman is bearing children, and politicians are calling us “childless cat ladies,” it’s refreshing when women in the public domain add their stand to the discussion.
The choice to be childfree is becoming more normalized for women and remains a valid and acceptable life path!
You can see Anna Kendrick in her upcoming directorial debut, Woman of the Hour, based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala.
You can also support her by buying her memoir, Scrappy Little Nobody. It’s available in Kindle, Audiobook, Hardcover, and Paperback formats and is rated 4.4 on Amazon.
