Who is Atsuko Okatsuka?
Atsuko Okatsuka was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1988. She immigrated to the US with her mother and grandmother when she was eight years old.
Atsuko was inspired to become a stand-up comedian after watching a Margaret Cho DVD. Her friend had given it to her during a boring sermon in church. Talk about serendipity!
Atsuko Okatsuka Notable Achievements
Atsuko released her debut album, But I Control Me, in 2020 under Comedy Dynamics.
On November 1, 2021, she made her late-night debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
Atsuko started the #Dropchallenge, which went viral on TikTok, with her grandmother. She got the inspiration for the challenge from the beat drop in Beyoncé’s song, “Partition.”
In movies and shows, she has appeared in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), Wallflower (2019), and Discreet (2017) among many others.

Asuko was named one of Variety’s “Top 10 Comics to Watch” in 2022, and she also dropped a stand-up special, The Intruder, on HBO and HBO Max. The New York Times named the special the Best Debut of 2022.
